Tom Allen is Confusing

Rep. Tom Allen just cast the deciding vote to adjourn the U.S. House of Representatives, but when he got back to Maine, he held a press conference to implore Sen. Susan Collins to urge for a special session to deal with the energy problem. Is he really concerned about issues affecting Americans, or does he just want more time to campaign?

You confuse too easily

Special sessions come after reg sessions generally.
There is nothing contradictory about ending a reg session, taking a break and then wanting to come back for a special session.

I see Collins is not going to the GOP convention. I can understand why Ted Stevens is not going, but Susan.
Is she that ashamed of W and her party that she doesn't want to hang out with them or is she just distancing herself from the party for campaign purposes.

One, they are coming back in September, so there is major stupidity in what Tom did.

He voted to adjourn, the deciding vote. Dumb move and he got a comeuppance from Mainers.

The convention is a pep-rally. She is very personally close to John McCain and was one of the first elected people to publicly back him.

She is being smart. Tom is a tough opponent and the DSCC is going to spend several million dollars here to defeat her.

Which makes more sense, hob-nobing at the convention or spending time with those whose support she seeks?

As usual, Susan makes the right call.

58 Collins - 42 Allen ..... I predicted it a year ago and stand by it now.

Tom did a dumb thing at a time when Maine people are looking for answers. He got called on it and tried to pass the buck to his opponent.

They did not have to adjourn. They are not required to adjourn. It is a tradition.

He made a bad decision and it has and will cost him.
