Stuck on Dumb?

No matter what the issue is, Ray thinks the Democrats in Augusta seem to be running to the lowest common denominator. Their actions regarding healthcare and social services are good examples.

Single payer federal health care system following the lines of European countries is the way to go.
Belgium has what I believe to be a pretty good system. The issue is too big, just like social security for states to tackle alone. Although I applaud my "Dumb" state for trying. Hopefully with a democrat in the White House we will be able to move forward on the health care issue.
Nice living in a "safe" state even if it does cost a little more.

Bruce,

We all think this is a wonderful place to live, or we would not live here. My family made a choice, we moved here.

What I don't understand is why people like you are willing to accept mediocrity from your government. It seems you are content to just allow them to do as they please and you just accept the consequences.

Is that really the role of the average citizen in a democracy?

I don't think so.

It is not the state and its people that are dumb. It is the collective Legislature that is dumb.

Touting health insurance as a necessity and than crafting policies that make it un-affordable flies in the face of reason.

Why are you so willing to accept such stupidity when there are successful models in other states that work well?

always enjoyed math..as you know it's the science of all sciences..2 and 2 is 4 and cannot be any more..government consumes..as it consumes it employs..as their employment grows it gets hungry..the hungrier they get the more votes they need..the more votes they need the more they employ...government itself is a liability..the only reason why we are the greatest country ever is because our government WAS small..now our government is BIG..there is nothing efficient about any government.. that is why it has to be small..how anyone can believe government can steamline .. save money and cover all at the same time..should go spend a month in new orleans..our only hope for our country to continue to be the best place to live is to reduce government ...that is the math.....ps..my cousin is in the merchant marines...last time he was in belgium..it cost $12.00 for a draft beer...stay on target ray....

Your cousin must have been in a high class bar. What came with his beer?
I lived there for 5 years and have been back recently and have not paid any where near that for a good beer
Don't believe everything your cousin tells you.

Ray, Federal single payer health care is still the way to go.
Mediocrity is your and your fellow conservatives description of our legislature not mine. I believe they are doing what the majority elected them to do. Everyone wants something from the govt. Its a tough job deciding what to spend tax dollars on when there are so many "wants" I use the term wants instead of needs on purpose.
I'll bite what are the states that have succesful models to follow?

bruce...you are right about my cousin..he says he's traveled from demark..germany to belgium and socialism is alive and well.. that's why a beer costs $12.00..should not generalize...but then again..why should anyone believe you..remember those facts...millions come to america for a better life...millions don't go to europe...wish they did...i always get a kick out of anyone using europe as a model...you can drive across any country in europe in a day...zig/zagged with mass transport...all rebuilt by american taxpayer's monies..virtually no "treehuggers" voice heard..proof...nuke/tidal/wind/thermal..you name they've got...if europe had our dep/lurc/epa they'd be all third world countries for sure..as far as research...look back into dem john martin and ballot gate...when he was caught with a bunch of ballot boxes in his office with over 100,00 votes..over the weekend unsupervised...have always heard of things like that happening in the vote counting in this state..that's the proof...but all was quiet almost overnight..the good old boys club alive and well....i'm sure it happens in every state...fox watching the hen house is the latin term...health costs would drop overnight if the ama/fda allowed competition...not limit the amount of docs/pa/meds....

"Momma always said 'stupid is as stupid does'" Raising taxes in an election year, and during an economic 'downturn'? $210 million bond package, to add to our $15+/- billion debt load? I'm running for the legislature, I ought to be packing to move to New Hampshire. Does this mean I'm over qualified for the job?
