Ok, I didn't hear this angle yet. How about pointing out the fact that everyone that lives in the city of Portland will be effected by this decision when something happens to one of these children,if the medication they take ect. causes a reaction and they end up hospitalized and the city of Portland has a lawsuit on their hands. Be prepared for the taxes to go through the roof, 'cause if a parent is going to relinquish their responsibilies to the school, they'll have no problem with sueing them, if their children get sick from it.

First thing I think people should research the harm Birth Control does.I took it for years and the only thing I had to be careful off is Penicillian effecting the Pills effectiveness.
Second are parents really so naive as to think that their precious jane or jimmy isnt curious at ages 11 and up.There has been cases of kids that young becoming pregnant.
Thirdly I feel that if more parents spent time taliking about sex, drugs, alcohol and the dangers of hanging with the wrong crowd this wouldnt even be an issue.
I know parents work 2 jobs and these kids are left to their own devices and listen to what other uninformed kids tell them.
If you dont want teachers teaching sex ed then step up to the plate and do it yourself, like I did.
I handed out condoms to My boys, with the understanding that it didnt mean they could go "hog wild".I would ask to see the rubber and had it marked so I would know if it wasnt the one I gave them.
If you give you kid some trust they may surprise you.

The main thing parents should be doing is opening the lines of communication so that kids dont feel they have to do this in secret.
Frankly I would feel like I let my kids down by not ensuring a safe enviroment for open discussions.
