Every day we do not act is another day we lose

Ray makes his case for drilling for oil off America's coastlines and claims that Congress is catering to special interests in its refusal to authorize American drilling.

Just one of many reports on the issue.

Estimates of oil reserves.
In May of 2008 the Energy Information Administration released the following report:

"The opening of the ANWR 1002 Area to oil and natural gas development is projected to increase domestic crude oil production starting in 2018. In the mean ANWR oil resource case, additional oil production resulting from the opening of ANWR reaches 780,000 barrels per day in 2027 and then declines to 710,000 barrels per day in 2030. In the low and high ANWR oil resource cases, additional oil production resulting from the opening of ANWR peaks in 2028 at 510,000 and 1.45 million barrels per day, respectively. Between 2018 and 2030, cumulative additional oil production is 2.6 billion barrels for the mean oil resource case, while the low and high resource cases project a cumulative additional oil production of 1.9 and 4.3 billion barrels, respectively." [23]),

The report also states:

"Additional oil production resulting from the opening of ANWR would be only a small portion of total world oil production, and would likely be offset in part by somewhat lower production outside the United States. The opening of ANWR is projected to have its largest oil price reduction impacts as follows: a reduction in low-sulfur, light crude oil prices of $0.41 per barrel (2006 dollars) in 2026 for the low oil resource case, $0.75 per barrel in 2025 for the mean oil resource case, and $1.44 per barrel in 2027 for the high oil resource case, relative to the reference case." [24])

For the average case, drilling in ANWR would reduce crude oil by 75 cents, in 2025. The total production from ANWR would be between 0.4 and 1.2 percent of total world oil consumption in 2030.[25]

It is a big issue. The facts are confusing since advocates say their may be 16 billion barrels and opponents say there may only 7.6 billion

I say the most valuable oil will be the last oil. Let's save ours for later. The Saudi oil will not last forever.
I do think we need to look at Nuclear again. Although I can't believe any conservative would want to follow something that Europe has been doing so well for years.
Jim Cramer says when gas hits the 5-6 dollar range Americans will start changing their habits.

I wish we had given Amtrak the money that we gave the airlines after 9-11 . Maybe we would have the beginnings of a good train service for the Northeast corridor.

I gotta give you credit for the risk alienating some of your R W followers, with that conserve in conservative line.
Seems like its mostly gas guzzling trucks and suv's that still display the W 04 sticker.

Congress bowing to special interests..
What a shock ! Is this a revelation for you.

Here we go, again. Bruce, you never cease to amaze me with your ability to take one tiny little piece of an issue and blow it up to make all inclusive. Drilling in ANWR in just one piece of the pie that will break our dependance on OPEC oil. If you combine the reserves in ANWR, within the continetal US and the off-shore reserves we could tell OPEC to shove it, and a lot sooner than 2017. It just makes me laugh that a small minority of radical environmentalists, and there willing lap-dogs SanFranNan Pelosi and Dingy Harry Reid, would value a blade of grass above and beyond the safety and security of this country. The facts are, and I don't for an instant expect you to agree since facts escape you, that with today's technology, companies can go in an extract our oil and gas reserves and when they're done, you would never know they were there. And the surrounding environment would be better than they found it. I am pround to say, DRILL HERE, DRILL NOW, LOWER PRICES!!! And if some stupid caribou gets in the way, drill right through the critter, mother nature will make more of them!!!

How about the 25 mil to the N koreans for energy aid
LIHEAP for North Korea, good deal

Les, the GOP has done a good job convincing you of their agenda
