Spotlight on Sarah Palin

Ray says it's not the media's job to vet Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin. It's ours.

I don't know if she has traveled to Europe or not,but Ramstein, if that is where she went, does not qualify as a trip to Europe. I have been to Ramstein many times and it is little America.
Tell me Ray where did she travel in Europe other than military bases? You left that out. Visiting troops in an American base in Kuwait and Germany do not expose her to much foreign culture.
I forgot she has been to Ireland too.
The plane stopped in Shannon to refuel.
Alska Being as close as it is to Russia, I guess would count as internatioanl experience byt the GOP
As for taking delight. I see you get giddy when you are beating up on the liberals in our state leg. Your face gets red and your eyes almost close.

Having been in Ramstein has no effect one way or the other on her presidential qualifications.

What's happening here is the Republican spin masters are trying to take her 32 A experience and turn it into a 44 DD. They get upset when anyone from the media takes a pin and pokes their argument, all the hot air blows out and it returns to a 32 A. So the next tactic is to blame the media. How else do I find out about anybody? The papers, Internet, and TV are all media. Just as most of the media does, it's my job to get my information from several sources and judge for myself how truthful and how important it is. Palin won't take my call, so I can't get her to answer my questions directly.

What has come from her directly has been suspect. Numerous sources have reported problems with troopergate, dissing earmarks when you hire a lobbying firm to procure earmarks for you. Wanting to build the "bridge to nowhere" until it was on it's last breath, then not wanting it. Upgrading the road to a ski resort owned by, Ted Stevens (The R Senator from Alaska) unbelievable! Did anyone mention the "sports arena" and how that was paid for??

Maybe I should believe our humble commentator when he says Democrats hate the military. As I recall, it was McCain (R) and Bush (R) who did not want the Webb(D) Veterans benefit package passed. It was too good! As I recall, it was Biden (D) who pushed the Emrat (sp?) production through so the military could survive the IED attacks that were blowing the Hummers to bits. Were I to be back in uniform, having already fought in one wasted war, I would appreciate someone who would keep me out of a needless war more than someone who allegedly honored me once I was shot while in it. Walter Reed comes to mind and the conditions there. There's a common thread to the above. It takes money. Something someone with an (R) next to their name usually doesn't like to spend, unless it is for a Hummer for themself!

When Reagan BIG R built up the military in the 80's he did nothing for the enlisted soldier.
When i went to work for the mil overseas in 91, I could not believe how the lower enlisted families lived. The housing reminded me of what we call "Projects " here

Russell,

It is certainly okay for you to disagree with me, but it is not okay to say I said something I did not say.

I have great respect for many democrats. I do not dislike democrats.

I do not like or trust liberals.

I said, "liberals" hate the military.

I did not say "democrats" hate the military.

Now, you may believe that all democrats are liberals, therefore, you make the apparent assumption you made, however, I do not believe all democrats are liberals. In fact, I believe most democrats are not liberals.

Unfortunately, most democrats who are elected to public office are liberal and it gives the other patriotic, God-loving, hard-working, traditional values democrats a bad name.

My beef is not with democrats. My beef is with liberals, whether democrat, republican or independent.

Bruce,

You are correct, we .. meaning our government, regardless of which party is in power, does not do enough for our soldiers or our veterans.

The American government, not the American people, has a long and disgraceful history of sending our best and brightest off to serve our nation in time of battle and then, once they have served their purpose, they are left to be largely forgotten.

From the Associated Press:
--------------------------

Two prominent U.S. Catholic bishops said Tuesday that Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden contradicted church teaching by saying in a weekend interview that determining when human life begins is a "personal and private" matter of religious faith he would not impose on others.

The statement from Cardinal Justin Rigali and Bishop William Lori said Biden, who appeared Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press," is the latest case of the U.S. Catholic hierarchy correcting a Catholic politician.

Asked on the program about when life begins, Biden said: "Look, I know when it begins for me. It's a personal and private issue. For me, as a Roman Catholic, I am prepared to accept the teachings in my church."

He added that while he believes life begins "at the moment of conception," it would inappropriate to impose that view on others in a pluralistic society.

The bishops said Biden was right to say human life begins at conception. But the church "does not teach this as matter of faith; it acknowledges it as a matter of objective fact," they said.

"Protection of innocent human life is not an imposition of personal religious conviction but a demand of justice," they added.

A spokesman for Biden did not immediately respond Tuesday to requests for comment.

Rigali, of Philadelphia, is chairman of the U.S. bishops' Committee on Pro-Life Activities. Lori, of Bridgeport, Conn., is chairman of the bishops' Committee on Doctrine.

Luckily
Unlike the Evangelicals, Catholics don't always do everything their Priests tell them.

As for which party does the most for our veterans and active soldiers. The Dems have it hands down. I was in Europe 91-96 during the Clinton years. Although the military was brainwashed into hating democrats for the most part, until the newt group took over, Clinton's office was , while still reducing troop numbers started by Bush 1, was working to improve their miserable lot, left by, money for weapons and numbers, not quality Reagan.
Let's talk about "Lipstick on a pig"
Why was it ok for McCain to use the line when Hillary was running, but it is not ok now?
I guess Sarah is not as tough as Hillary.

Obama did set the record straight on letterman last night , by saying if she was refereed to in his line she would have been the lipstick.

BTW
I am a liberal ,Surprise!!
I do not hate the military men and women. I admire them
I hate the way they are being used by this administration

I said on air yesterday that I went back and listened to the comment Obama made and it was clear to me that he was refering to policy, not Palin.

All of this stuff is a distraction from real issues and there are many.

Well, Bruce and Russell, after reading your rants about how the only party that takes care of the military is the Democrats, I almost laughed myself out of my seat!! Russel, thank you for your service, from a fellow veteran, but you sound to me like a bitter person who has forgotten why we are engaged in the fight that we are currently in. All I have to do to be reminded is to remember the date 9/11/01. I hope you haven't forgotten what happened on that day and why we can never allow ourselves to be lulled to sleep as was done to us during the Clinton Administration. The Webb bill had some good points, but as the Democrats are want to do, it was loaded with pork and I would have voted against it as well. It saddens me to hear you say that your service in the fight against Islamic extremeism was wasted. I, to, have fought that fight and I would never call it wasted. I agree that the conditions at Walter Reed were terrible and should never have been allowed to deteriorate to that point. But to blame the Republicans universally for that shows a very narrow view. I dare say that you don't sound old enough to have served, as I did, under Jimmy Carter's administration. During his four disasterous years, we had troops on food stamps because his administration refused to give the uniformed services enough of a pay raise to remotely compare with the civilian sector. Our mission capabilities were almost non-existant due to cut backs in defense spending. I could go on, but I won't. It took a Republican President, Ronald Reagan, to restore our military to full fighting strength and to raise our pay so troops didn't have to rely on food stamps any longer. Oh, and beside that, he oversaw the defeat of the Evil Empire. Democrats, particularly since the party was taken over by the extreme leftists in 1968, have not demonstrated a desire to support a strong military and you will never convice me otherwise. You both say the Republicans do nothing for the troops, I say that is patently false. Bruce, I know you'll argue with me about this till the end of your days, because like most liberals, you refuse to accept the truth even when in stares you in the face. Russell, you seem to be saying that Gov. Palin has no experience to be Vice President. What is Mr Obama's qualifications to be President? Sorry, but his days as a "community organizer" just doesn't cut it. Gov. Palin has more executive experince, period. If you two want to continue passing off the lies that the Democrats as passing around about Gov Palin, go ahead and waste your time. They've all been debunked already. Mr Obama and his campaign are running scared because his "Hope and Change" mantra has been found lacking and the American people have candidates that they know they can count on to really change things in Washington and keep us all safe from our enemies in the process. Those candidates are the next President and Vice-President of the United States - John McCain and Sarah Palin. Get over it.
